1、停顿是分割意群的标志，也就是说当一个完整的意义单位从口中说出，需要有短暂的空白，表明该意群的结束和下个意群的开始。通常情况下所说的一个意群约等于充当一个句子成分的短语，比如主语、谓语、宾语、定语、状语等等；一个意群大约有3-7个单词。当句子的某一成分包含许多单词，或者是由从句承担，那么也在需要在内部适当停顿。这样做可以让句子读起来有音乐般的节奏感，而不是手机中的机器语音那样平铺直叙。
2、轻读和重读是比较概念，相对出现。一般来说传递信息的实词（比如名词、动词、形容词、副词等）或者想强调的部分需要重读，而情态动词、介词、不定式、连词、代词、所有格等虚词和不需要强调的部分，应该轻轻带过。轻读和重读的对比将想要传达的重要信息更加突出，同时赋予朗读韵律美。
