1、陆游大约在二十岁左右，与唐琬成婚后伉俪相得，感情很好料唐琬的才华横溢与陆亲密感情，引起了陆母的不满（女子无才便是德，陆游为孙姓女子写墓志时也说过，才藻非女子事也）。并且，唐婉一直无所出，引起了陆母的不满，后陆母认为唐琬把儿子的前程耽误殆尽，遂命陆游休了唐琬。陆游曾另筑别院安置唐琬，其母察觉后，命陆游另娶一位安守本分的王氏女为妻。没想到，王氏在第二年就生下一子，四年里共生三子，另有一妾。数年后，陆游去游览沈园，正巧遇到唐琬夫妇也在园中。唐琬征得丈夫赵士程同意，亲手向陆游敬了一杯酒。陆游饮后，在沈园题写了那首《钗头凤》，写罢，搁笔而去。沈园一会后，唐琬悲恸不已。回家后，反复玩味陆游的词，便和了一首同样的曲牌的词,不久即怏怏而卒。陆游直至晚年，仍常常凭吊遗踪，追忆当年，不能忘怀旧情，为此写下了不少感人的诗篇，人们在感动于这些诗句时，也便记住了他与唐琬的故事。
2、唐伯虎在青楼中认识了官妓沈九娘。九娘很敬重这位才子，为了使唐伯虎有个绘画的良好环境，她把妆阁收拾得十分整齐，唐伯虎作画时，九娘总是给他洗砚，调色，铺他画的美人，大都是从九娘身上体会到的风姿神采。九娘见唐伯虎不把她当作官妓看待，就益发敬重他了。天长日久，两人产生了爱情，成了夫妇。过了两年，九娘生了个女儿，取名桃笙。1509年，苏州水灾。唐伯虎的卖画生涯自然艰难了，有时连柴米钱也无着落。一家人的生活全靠九娘苦心撑持。九娘终因操劳过度病倒了，唐伯虎请来医生，医生诊断后，告诉唐伯虎，九娘已经病入膏肓。唐伯虎尽力服侍九娘，无心于诗画。1512年冬至前，九娘紧紧握着唐伯虎的手，说道：“承你不弃，要我作你妻子，我本想尽我心力理好家务，让你专心于诗画，成为大家。但我无福，无寿，又无能，我快死了，望你善自保重。”听了这番话，唐伯虎禁不住泪如雨下。后来的日子里，唐伯虎一个人带着刚刚5岁的女儿桃笙过着艰难的生活。桃笙是唐伯虎和爱妻沈九娘唯一的女儿，她的名字取自唐伯虎在苏州自建的住所桃花坞，著名的《桃花庵歌》描写的就是那里的逍遥景致，沈九娘死后，唐伯虎再也没有继娶妻室，晚年皈依佛法，号称六如居士。
3、司马相如所写《子虚赋》得到汉武帝赏识，又以《上林赋》被封为郎（帝王的侍从官）。不久打算纳茂陵女子为妾，冷淡卓文君。于是卓文君写诗《白头吟》 给相曾经患难与共，情深意笃的日子此刻早已忘却，哪里还记得千里之外还有一位日夜倍思丈夫的妻子。终于某日，司马相如给妻子送出了一封十三字的信：“一二三四五六七八九十百千万”。聪明的卓文君读后，泪流满面。一行数字中唯独少了一个“亿”，无忆，岂不是夫君在暗示自己已没有以往过去的回忆了。她，心凉如水，怀着十分悲痛的心情，回《怨郎诗》 旁敲侧击诉衷肠。相传卓文君又附《诀别书》 给相如。司马相如看完妻子的信，不禁惊叹妻子之才华横溢。遥想昔日夫妻恩爱之情，羞愧万分，从此不再提遗妻纳妾之事。两人白首偕老，安居林泉。
